The Sforza Castle has been for centuries the symbol of the Dukes of Milan’s power and, after their demise, often the seat of foreign conquerors.
In the 20th century it became a place of culture, with museums, libraries and exhibitions, ranging from ancient to contemporary art.
The Castle hosts at present several museums and Instititutes of Culture: Picture Gallery, Ancient Art Museum, Egyptian Art Museum, Furniture Museum, Museum of Musical Instruments, Museum of Decorative Arts, Museum of Pre-History and Proto-History, Art Library, Trivulziana Library, Municipal Historical Archive, Graphic and Photographic Collections, Graphic art Cabinet, Medal Cabinet, Archaeological and Numismatic Library, Da Vinci Collection.
