Expo 2015: a Slow Food app to discover traditional food
Food has always a key role at Expo 2015. Slow food welcomed the millions visitants of Expo Milan 2015 with a new application to help tourists to “taste the best of Italy”. It’s called “Slow Food Planet” and it contains indications about the typical products, the traditional shops and the farmers selling their products.
OVER 12 THOUSAND RESTAURANTS AND PRODUCERS
The new instrument allows the travelers to live a side by side experience with the territory and its typicality, not Just in Italy but all over the world. By the end of the year there will be 22 mapped Countries with over 96 geographical areas and more than 12thousand advisories about restaurants and producers to be discovered. With Expo, a good part of Italy will be reviewed together with cities like Berlin, New York and Rio de Janeiro. Next releases in august will be Paris, London and Sidney.
200 CHEF ENLIVEN THE TEMPORARY RESTAURANTS
In the “Identity Expo” space, 200 Italian and international chef explain the food at 360 degrees enlivening a temporary restaurant inside two floors that face the Decumanus between the Malaysia and Thailand pavilions. The initiatives palimpsest considers different ‘Identities’: ‘Youth’, ‘Wine’, ‘Bread and Pizza’, ‘natural Identities’ on the natural and vegetarian cooking. To these, ‘Identity Milan’, ‘Identity Pasta’ and ‘Identity of Books’, join, in which authors of books on eno-gastronomy will be present.
USA, AN EXCEPTIONAL FOOD TRUCK
The cult of the hamburger, the brunch and nowadays famous food trucks, and not only, characterize the USA’s participation at Expo Milan 2015 besides a dream team of chef who enliven the American presence at the Milanese event. The names list involves Lidia Bastianich (mother of Joe, Masterchef protagonist), besides a series of appreciated stars at an international level: from Tom Colicchio to Mario Batali, to Cesare Casella, Luke Holden and David Chang and many others, alternate inside the food trucks which join the pavilion proposing all of the grand classic of the overseas cooking: from lobster rolls (some sort of a lobster sandwich), to the famous barbeque dishes and so many types of desserts.
