Expo 2015: Italia pavilion becomes a book

The symbol space of the “Italian know how to” at Expo Milano 2015, Italia Pavilion, is celebrated in a book and with a documentary movie.

THE PHASES OF THE PROJECT ARE NARRATED
Both were presented in the structure’s frame that represents Italy at the Exposition, that will remain as a heritage at the end of the event. “Italia Pavilion. Expo Milan 2015” (Skira editor, 216 pages, 39 euro), is the book’s title that travels through again the project’s fulfillment phases: from the first ideas, to the inspirations, planning, until the construction site till the operational phase, crossed by difficulties and delays.

PALAZZO ITALIA, A SYMBOL OF INNOVATION
The heart of the Italian pavilion is the Palazzo Italia building, «is the most complex that exists in the world», as the one who created it defines it. Its white cover, that inspires to a tree’s ramifications, is composed by 700 different panels, made with 2 thousand tons of biodynamic cement, patented by Italcementi. The special cover captures the polluting elements and, through a chemical reaction, maintains the surface white. «The project isn’t anything else but an extraordinary laboratory of ideas and innovation» said the architect, Michele Molè.

THE DOCUMENTARY MOVIE’S TITLE IS ‘THIS IS ME’
Italia Pavilion is also a documentary movie titled “This is me”. It is about the narration of the project and its making of through the voices of the customers, designers, construction companies and the workers.
