MZ Congressi for Science For Peace: between science, democracy and information
On 17th November 2017, the 9th edition of the conference, Science For Peace will be held at the Bocconi University of Milan, organized by the Umberto Veronesi Foundation. A day to reflect about peace and the relationship between science, democracy and information in the modern world that is dominated by digital technology.
MZ Congressi is a logistics partner and has been one of the supporters of the event since the first edition that took place in November 2009.
The Science for Peace project was born from an idea of Umberto Veronesi in 2009, to emphasize that science can and should contribute with positive actions to achieve peace. The project brings together top scientists to discuss and implement peace projects.
This year some important issues will be discussed regarding the role of science and scientific knowledge in the digital society. Internet and new media have created a multitude of positive opportunities for sharing knowledge. At the same time, they may cause incorrect information through large scale digital misinformation. For these issues, Science for Peace believes that it is necessary to respond with science.
MZ Congressi has collaborated with the Umberto Veronesi Foundation for approximately 10 years, (previously with the name of CQ Travel) organizing some events and international conferences that talk about the future of science and the role that science can cover, to promote peace and prosperity.
In this year’s edition, there will be important guests from the Scientific and cultural world, as well as from Institutions and civil society such as:
- The President of the House of Representatives of the Italian Republic LAURA BOLDRINI
- The Foreign Minister of the Italian Republic EMMA BONINO
- Nobel Peace Prize winner for 2011 LEYMAH GBOWEE
